The National Restaurant Vodenica is housed in the authentic building of an old watermill, once a working mill on the river – a center of life for centuries in the mountainous areas of Montenegro.
As early as the 19th century, this watermill served the locals of Kolašin and the surrounding villages as a place to grind grain, exchange news, and build a sense of community. The water that powered the millstones provided bread for the entire area, and the mill itself became a symbol of survival and work. Today, on these very foundations, the restaurant proudly preserves the spirit of times past.
Throughout its eventful history, the building was repeatedly damaged and restored, yet it always came back to life. It survived wars, changes of rule, and the passage of time, and in the modern era it has been carefully restored and transformed into a national restaurant that preserves its original appearance, wooden structure, and the rustic atmosphere of the old mill.
